From Silver Hill Farm in Emyvale, home of the ‘world’s best duck’, to Brehon Brewhouse, the award-winning micro-brewery set on a working dairy farm in Inniskeen, we learn more about the producers championing the finest local produce and making our mouths water in a summer-long showcase.
All businesses taking part have a physical presence that you can visit for yourself, be it a food truck, market stall or fixed premises. So get out and about, explore and taste Monaghan this summer!
Adamson’s Bar & Lounge, Clones
A traditional Irish pub with a lively trad scene and surprise food offering – authentic, wood-fired Italian pizza.
This highly Instagrammable village pizzeria is known for its fabulous floral displays, as well as its gourmet pizzas topped with the finest local ingredients.
Andy’s Restaurant & Bar, Monaghan Town
Kevin Redmond presides over the encyclopaedic gin menu here at his family restaurant, which includes ‘cooked’ gins flavoured with seasonal, local ingredients such as rhubarb and elderflower.
Awesome Coffee Beans, Carrickmacross
This buzzing Main Street café and micro-roastery is a go-to for coffee lovers, run by Brian Birdy, former Irish Cup Tasters Champion, and alumnus of Antwerp’s Cafenation and 3FE.

Old-fashioned Irish pub transformed into a cosy coffee bar, complete with light lunch options and home-made sweet treats.
Matilda’s Bakery & Deli, Carrickmacross
The homemade sausage rolls, including black pudding and pork butchered by Michael Ward are a must-try here. Son Stephen runs front-of-house, while sister Annmarie is chief baker.
Run by Jenn Gonnelly, the Monaghan Taste Club promises a new way for people to discover food offerings, restaurants and events here in Monaghan.
Paelling Food Truck, Monaghan Town
Rosa and Ed run this authentic Spanish food truck, serving an array of paellas and tasty sides, including croquetas and patatas bravas.
Raglan Road Tea Room, Inniskeen
Tea, coffee, light lunches and home-made scones and bakes served in beautiful Inniskeen, a stone’s throw from the Patrick Kavanagh Centre.
The ‘best duck in the world’ so say top chefs, including Heston Blumenthal. Visit the on-site farm shop and (seasonal) The Duck Truck, to sample ‘quackos’, duck burger and more.
Snaffles at Castle Leslie Estate, Glaslough
The award-winning Snaffles is a fine-dining experience not to be missed; a celebration of the very best seasonal, local ingredients deftly prepared by executive head chef, Aaron Duffy, and his team.
Professional chef, Val O’Kelly, is a regular at Monaghan Town Farmers’ Market, with his tasty range of jams, condiments and relishes made right here in Monaghan.
Run as a social enterprise, The Local is an organic wholefoods store, with a focus on local, ethical and sustainable produce.
