Summer may be coming to an end, but there is still lots happening throughout County Monaghan this September and October. We round up our favourite Monaghan Festivals taking place this autumn:

The Harvest Time Blues Festival (5-9 September) has hosted several legendary acts over the years and grown to become Irelands’ top contemporary rock, blues and soul music festival. Weekend and day tickets available, and camping at Coral Leisure and the Monaghan Harps Complex. This year’s event also includes the ‘Harvest Beard Championship’, to coincide with ‘World Beard Day’ on 7th

The Back to Castleblayney Festival and Big Tom Weekend makes a very welcome return to Castleblayney and Oram, 27-29 September. This year, the Castleblayney Vintage Fair Day also takes place on the same weekend, promising a jam-packed programme of music, storytelling, vintage displays and demonstrations. Highlights of this year’s Kavanagh Weekend (27-29 September) at the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen are set to include folk singer John Francis Flynn and ‘Word, Lies and Craic’ with Jon Kenny, a hilarious and poignant mixture of storytelling, song and poetry. Tickets are available from the Patrick Kavanagh Centre.

Ireland’s only traditional music and arts festival for young audiences, Tradoodle is back, 18th-20th October, with an exciting programme of events taking place at schools and libraries throughout the county, as well as unmissable family fun days in Castleblayney and Monaghan Town:. The Halloween Bank Holiday weekend and the Clones Film Festival, go hand in hand. The ‘best little Film Festival’ in the country promises a packed programme of film screenings, musical interludes and a showing of the winning Short Film Commission. This year’s Festival runs 24th – 27th October.
