Christmas Light Switch-Ons ❄️✨
More than just a countdown and flick of the switch (although who doesn’t enjoy that part?) Monaghan’s Christmas light ceremonies are full-blown events, with live music, dancing and some even promising an appearance from the Big Man himself. Mark your calendars for:
Thanksgiving at Castle Leslie is a celebration of the Estate’s transatlantic links on Thursday 27th November. A gourmet gala dinner featuring the finest in local produce is the highlight of this magical evening. Tickets are priced at €90pp.
Clones Christmas Tree Festival
The Clones Christmas Tree Festival is back! An uplifting showcase of over 50 trees uniquely decorated by over 50 local businesses, schools and community groups. The Festival kicks off on Friday 28th November and concludes on Sunday 30th, with a carol service and concert from local group, Tully.
Santa at the Riverbank sees Riverbank Farm in Killanny transform into a winter wonderland, complete with ‘gingerbread kitchen’ and ‘the enchanted barn’. The event is ticketed and runs Fri-Sun from 28th November until 22nd December.
Christmas Markets
The Glaslough Christmas Market takes place at the Oakland Community Centre over two days this year: Friday 28th November, 4-9pm and Saturday 29th, 10am-4pm. A kids craft area, face-painting and live carol singing complete the festive experience.

at the Knockatallon Christmas Fair on Saturday 22nd November;
the Latton Christmas Fair on Sunday 23rd; Hughie’s Annual
Market also on Sunday 23rd; and Ballybay Christmas Market,

Taste of Monaghan Christmas Street Food Festival
Savour the very best that Monaghan has to offer food-wise at the Taste of Monaghan Christmas Street Food Festival on Saturday 6th December. The event in Church Square is free to attend and runs from 11am-5pm.
Lough Muckno Christmas Market takes place on Sunday 7th December from 12-6pm, offering an array of stalls and vendors and a wonderfully festive atmosphere overlooking beautiful Lough Muckno.
Designer Crafts at Market House
Designer Crafts at Market House makes a welcome return to the heart of Monaghan Town, and you are sure to pick up a one-of-a-kind gift from a talented local artist. Runs 1st-23rd December inclusive.
Christmas movie night at Iontas
Christmas movie night at Iontas is now a much-loved annual event, and this year promises to be no different, with a screening of the family festive classic, The Polar Express, on Thursday December 18th at 7.30pm – pyjamas for children encouraged! Tickets from €10pp/€35 for a family of 4.
