Description

Loacated on the outskirts of Castleshane village, Castleshane Forest, former estate of the Lucas-Scudamore family, can be found approximately 5km from Monaghan town, just off the N2 towards Clontibret. ‘Caisleán an tSiáin’ is the village’s name in Irish, translating to ‘Castle of the Fairy Mound'.

The remains of Castleshane House, an impressive Elizabethan style built in 1836 to replace the existing house and subsequently burnt down in 1920, can still be found within the grounds, as well as a beautiful natural waterfall located in a peaceful spot in the heart of the woodland.
