Swallow Studios in Annayalla just outside Castleblayney, houses a unique combination of craft textile workshops in the heart of County Monaghan. Liz Christy and Louise Loughman use their skills to create very desirable crafted textile goods, all under one roof. Their beautiful and unique work is very special in this age of mass production. Slow fashion accessories made with sustainability in mind, as opposed to fast and throwaway.

Inspired by the Impressionist paintings of Claude Monet, hand-weaver and textile designer Liz creates a range of colourful scarves and wraps using cotton, wool and locally farmed alpaca. Liz is also the creator of the popular "LizzyC Sheep Gift Collection" including brooches, key-rings, magnets and greeting cards. She also makes framed county colour ‘Romance’ sheep. These quirky collectible sheep make perfect affordable gifts for visitors to Ireland.

Batik artist Louise Loughman creates beautiful hand-painted silk items. Louise draws her inspiration for her batiks from Irish mythology and her surrounding heritage. Her range includes scarves, wall-hangings, greeting cards and framed pictures. Liz and Louise also work on special commissions, often collaborating on projects. They are always delighted to welcome visitors to the studio to see them at work.
Monaghan is only 1hr 30mins from Dublin Airport and the same driving time from Belfast. At Liz Christy’s studio, you can stop by and see her design and prepare a warp on the warping mill. A weaving demonstration will also be provided. There is a gift shop onsite with hand-crafted products from local and national artisans and craftspeople.
