Description

Building, learning and sharing skills for a Sustainable future - We are in the process of building a cob house in county Monaghan, we hope to promote natural building and encouraging others by following our journey to live in a more sustainable and low impact manner.

Upcoming Traditional Building Skills at The Mudhouse include -

Introduction to Cob Building - Saturday 3rd September 2022, 10am - 4.30pm
€70 / Tutor: Iain Thom, The Mudhouse - This Course will explain what cob is, how to mix and use as a building material. Participants will have the opportunity to build a small structure on the day. Please wear Appropriate clothing and Footwear for muddy conditions. Participants must be 18 or over. Lunch and Refreshments included.

Introduction to stone building with lime mortar - Saturday 6th August 2022, 10am - 4.30pm
€90 / Tutor: Dominic Keogh - Participants are invited to join Instructor, and conservation Stonemason Dominic Keogh for a one day introduction to mixing and building with Lime mortar, where they will gain hands-on experience of working with traditional materials to create a Lime mortared stone wall. The Course is aimed at complete beginners, and will give people a basic introductory knowledge of mortar mixing, application, bonding, and building as well as some historical background in to the history of working with Lime mortars. Materials and tools will be provided. Participants must be 18 or over. Steel toe cap boots/shoes must be worn. Lunch and Refreshments included. Participants are invited to a walk around and talk on The Mudhouse from 4.30pm - 5pm
