With so much happening in Monaghan this Christmas that you won’t want to miss, we have compiled a handy guide to what is happening and when. From Christmas markets and Santa experiences, to arts, crafts and theatre for children, there is something to suit all ages and interests.
Santa and Mrs Claus visit The Farmyard in Clones on Saturday 2nd December, 2-7pm. Post your letters in Santa’s special post box and see his magnificent reindeer and sleigh.
Ray’s Garden Centre in Castleblayney will be welcoming Santa and his elves, 1, 2, 3, 9 & 10 December. This is a ticketed event, with all proceeds going to the Castleblayney Cancer Society. See Ray’s Facebook page for full details.

The Santa Experience comes to Threemilehouse on Saturday 16th The event runs 2.30-4.30pm and is being organised by Kilmore & Drumsnatt Sports Activity Hub. Tickets can be purchased here >>
Land of a Hundred Little Hills is the eagerly awaited gig-theatre experience commissioned by the Patrick Kavanagh Centre and produced by Ceol Connected, together with the National Concert Hall. Catch this magical performance based on Kavanagh’s ‘A Christmas Childhood’ at Iontas Theatre in Castleblayney 28th November; Garage Theatre Monaghan, 30th November; and the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, 15th and 16th December. Tickets cost €6 plus €1 booking fee and are available from the respective box offices.
The Master-a-Piece Christmas Art Party takes place on 9th December, 2-4pm at the Oakland Community Centre, Glaslough. Participants age 4 and up will create winter lanterns, faux gingerbread houses, a Christmas canvas and there will be a take-home activity, too. Tickets are €25pp.
Throw a Christmas Tree with Busy Bee Ceramics in Glaslough on 16th December, 11am. This fun workshop for all ages is suitable from age 3+ and tickets are priced at €25, including all materials and tuition.
The Steadfast Shoes Brass Band Gala Christmas Concert featuring local choirs takes place at the Shirley Arms Hotel at 7pm on Sunday 3rd December. Tickets are priced at €10.
